Battery & Electrical
Battery load testing, replacement, alternator and starter diagnosis. We test your complete charging system so you know the full picture before you need a jump.
What We Do
Electrical problems can be among the most frustrating to diagnose because the symptoms often point in multiple directions. A dead battery might be the battery itself, the alternator, the starter, or a parasitic drain running down a healthy battery overnight.
We test systematically. We load-test the battery to measure actual cranking capacity under demand, test alternator output at idle and under load, and check the starter draw. If the battery keeps going dead, we trace parasitic draws using proper diagnostic procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my battery needs to be replaced?
Common signs include slow cranking when starting, headlights that dim at idle, a battery warning light on the dash, or a battery that is more than four years old. Cold weather accelerates battery failure because it reduces the chemical reaction that produces power. If your vehicle is slow to start on cold mornings, have the battery load tested before it leaves you stranded.
How long does a car battery last?
Most automotive batteries last three to five years under normal driving conditions. Batteries in hot climates tend to wear out faster because heat degrades the internal plates. Frequent short trips that do not allow the battery to fully recharge also shorten battery life. We test battery capacity, not just voltage, so we can tell you how much useful life remains.
What is the difference between a battery problem and an alternator problem?
The battery starts the engine and provides power when the engine is off. The alternator charges the battery while the engine runs and powers the electrical system during operation. If the battery is good but keeps dying, the alternator may not be charging properly. If the alternator is good but the battery cannot hold a charge, the battery needs replacement. We test both components so you get the right repair.
Why does my car not start even though the battery is new?
A new battery rules out power storage as the problem, but a no-start can also be caused by a faulty starter motor, a failed ignition switch, a bad relay, a security system fault, or a problem with the fuel or ignition system. We use diagnostic equipment to identify exactly where the failure is so you are not guessing.
What causes a battery to drain overnight?
A battery that drains overnight while the vehicle is parked almost always has a parasitic draw, meaning something is pulling current when it should not be. Common culprits include a faulty door switch keeping interior lights on, a failing alternator with a shorted diode, an aftermarket accessory wired incorrectly, or a module that is not entering sleep mode. We use an ammeter to trace and identify the source of the drain.
Do I need to reprogram anything after replacing my battery?
Some vehicles require a throttle body relearn, power window reset, radio code entry, or transmission shift adaptation after a battery replacement. Modern vehicles with many electronic modules may take several drive cycles to fully relearn settings. We perform any necessary resets that are needed for your specific vehicle before you leave.
